First Week

Day 1

Day 1 is when I got the idea for a game. I was watching a game design video, and then it started talking about dual mechanic games, and then I thought about making one. Later in the day I was playing BTD6, and then I thought of the game idea. Tower defence and FPS! It was a great idea, so I get to work right away. I made a new unity project, and get to work. I made a simple game scene, and then added some ground. Great! No gameplay. Time to do that. I quickly made an Enemy prefab, and then a Tower prefab. I made them easily editable, so I could make more. I finished the game scene, pressed play, and then realized that I could not place towers. After about an hour of debugging, I finally realized that the ground did not have a collider, and then added that. Now everything worked perfectly! It was 9:30, so time to go to bed.

Day 2

I woke up early at 8:30 today to get to work. I boot up my desktop, and open up unity. I first made a little zombie and tower model, to lighten the mood. After that, I let my little brother play test, and he said that he loved it! That was good. He told me that he cold not die, and, infact, he could not die. I forgot to make a death screen (And the game was way to easy, but we will get to that later)! I quickly made that, and now you could die. I then made a crude main menu, and then added in a shop to buy new towers, which took longer than I would like to admit. I now had some simple gameplay! I then went to work on some pixel art to make all of the UI look better, which it did, and then went to eat something, sense I had not eaten anything, and it was almost dinner. I didn't do much after that other than redoing the main menu.

Day 3

I awoke with my little brother trying to scare me, which did not work. I tried to boot up unity, and it didn't work. I got a little scared, tried again, and then it worked. Yay! Now I can work on my game. The first thing that I did today was to fix the heart UI, which currently looks like it is being ripped in half. After doing that, I inport  it into unity and go to eat breakfast. After consuming the S U B S T A N A N C E, I start making some new towers. There were now 10 towers in the game, and a nice shop to go with it. My brother did some playtesting, and then told me that the game was to hard, so I made the enemies move a little slower. It worked, and now the game was a good difficulty. My friend then came over because a good game dev still needs friends. He played the game, and loved it. So far, all of the feedback I have gotten has been great. I then added some nice UI animations and scene transitions, which looked great! I did some more playtesting, and figured out that you could get lots of money very quickly, so I added a miximum money variable, and put it in the shop.

Day 4

I woke up at 9:30 today, and, after a sleepover, I was tired. I at some breakfast and opened up blender to try to make all 10 gun models. It turned out, I suck at blender, so I'm just gonna make the models in sketch up, which is a 3d modeling software taught by schools, and my school just happened to be one that taught it. The first thing that I made was a new map model, so that the game didn't look like a piece of garbage. I tried to import it into unity, and, suprise! It didn't work. Back to blender, I guess. One of my other freinds came over today, and we played together for about 3 hours. After that, I had to go to Muai Thai for a while. When I got home, I finished making the first gun models for my game, and imported them into unity. I have started to make the game look better! Oh, look! It's 9:00. Time to sleep.

Day 5

I woke up at a bight and early hour of 7:00 today. I thought that today we should get some more models in, and add some more things to the shop. First, I was going to add a shop item where you can change the amount of money you start with in the game. After I got that all finished up, I opened up blender to make some models. After I got a simple human model in, I did a playtesting session to get some feedback. After that, I was told that the FPS character was a bit boring, so in the shop I added the ability to modify your weapon, which took about 2 hours for some reason. After that, I tested out the new shop system, and it didn't work. It took about an hour of debugging until I found out that I forgot to give one button its trigger. At this point, I was getting kind of bored of my unmoving human model, so I decided to figure out how to rig blender models. After I got that figured out, I played around with it for way to long. From that came a army stance model, and I imported it into unity. I decided to take my first break in five days, and that felt great. It was a little long, but that's fine. When I was done with my break, I made a pistol stance model and a minigun stance model to finish off the tower modeling. I also made a zombir model to replace the capsule enemy. Finnaly, after a long day of work, It was time to go to bed.

Day 6

I awoke at 4:30 a.m. today, which did not feel great, but I could not go to sleep. I got started today by making a cover for the game, which took about an hour, an I think that it turned out pretty well. After I got that bit done, I let my brother playetest because he has a unhealthy addiction to the game I have created. My in-game scene was looking kind of bland, so I hopped into blender to make some tree models, but blender crashed and I couldn't get it to work. Because of that, I decided to just try to make the game look better in general, so I started with the main menu. I also made a simple tutorial to tell players how to play the game. I also looked at my game, and said it looked like garbage, so I added some post processing effects. I also made some bush and fence models to spice up the play field.

Day 7

Today I will be making the play area look better. I will be adding in some tree models to make it look like you are playing in a forest. At this point, I was beginning to get nervous about the launch on tuesday. Now, I was getting tired of making this game, so I took a break.
